Our school was founded in 2002 by Mrs. Wanda Hatmaker and her husband, LeRoy. Flaming Sword Christian
Academy has the distinction of being the only private school in Cumberland County which has a program
specifically dedicated for students with mild to moderate learning challenges (Gifted Student Program), in
addition to our College Preparatory Program for High School,and Middle and Elementary School Programs.
MR. AND MRS. HATMAKER
Mr. and Mrs. Hatmaker established the school at great personal risk. They spent their own money for the
first building and to hire the first staff members. Again, as the school grew and needed a larger building with
more possibilities, they took great financial risk in order to make the building useable as a school, using their
own credit worthiness and going into personal debt to accomplish the dream of helping students no one else
wanted.
BUILDING THE TEAM
During the last eight years, Mrs. Hatmaker has interviewed many educators, but noting that it takes very
special educators to work with her students, she has moved slowly, looking for those who are qualified but
more importantly, those who have a real heart for these students and are committed to their success.

The hallmarks of Mrs. Hatmaker's passion for our school for the last eight years, is still the same today:

students and families who now have hope restored
